Sophia Hutchins

Sophia Hutchins was born on April 1, 1996, in Bellevue, Washington. She spent most of her childhood after her parents' divorce with her mother and later maternal grandparents in a Catholic upbringing. Sophia Hutchins attended Auburn Riverside High School before transferring to Eastside Catholic School. 

She furthered her education to seek a Bachelor of Science in finance and economics at Pepperdine University in 2019, for which she was a recipient of an academic scholarship as well as class president for three consecutive years. Sophia was the first openly transgender student government representative at Pepperdine and later the university's first transgender graduate.

Personal Life

Sophia became especially close to Caitlyn Jenner, serving as her manager, advisor, and confidante. Even though there were rumors about the relationship being of a different nature, Sophia always described their working and personal relationship as rooted in deep friendship and business partnership. 

In private life, she enjoyed playing golf, taking care of dogs, and charity work. She also developed a huge audience on social media, where she shared her business transactions and her personal life.

Personal Journey and Transition

Sophia's own transition as a trans woman began freshman year at Pepperdine. Inspired by Caitlyn Jenner's very public transition, Sophia came out in 2016 and continued to have gender-affirming surgery while completing college. She frequently discussed how Jenner's experience had inspired her to be herself, and being visible discussing her own experience made her a real, visible presence among the transgender community at a young age.

A businesswoman by nature, Sophia Hutchins founded LUMASOL, a health tech company committed to creating simple, high-tech sun protection products. She recognized the potential for more simplicity in sun protection and put LUMASOL on the forefront of integrating wellness with technology. 

Sophia was also CEO and director at the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, directing its philanthropic activities on behalf of the transgender community. She also managed Caitlyn Jenner's career, becoming a celebrity in her own right as a media figure by appearing on E!'s I Am Cait and celebrating at high-profile industry parties.

Advocacy and Politics

Sophia was a dedicated advocate for LGBTQ+ equality and frequently used her visibility to assist and advocate for transgender causes. Politically, she was a Republican and a vocal surrogate for Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. Death

Sophia Hutchins tragically died on July 2, 2025, while passing away in an ATV accident near Jenner's Malibu house when she was 29 years old. The ATV veered off 350 feet down a ravine after it crashed into another vehicle, and she died instantly from multiple injuries. 

The accident was determined to be accidental and brought widespread grief and tributes from the LGBTQ+ community, the business world, and far beyond.

Sophia Hutchins is also remembered as a trailblazer, a businesswoman and an activist who broke down doors for transgender visibility and acceptance. Her success in business, particularly with LUMASOL, and as a leader in philanthropic endeavors, gained her an approximate net worth of low millions.
